Rinse: When you've finished diving
for the day, rinse your suit in fresh water as soon as possible. Salt water
and chlorine are arch enemies of neoprene. These harsh environments will
take a toll on your suit and leave you with a delicate, stinky wetsuit.
Soak: As soon
as you are able, soak your wetsuit in clean, warm water for about 15
minutes. You also should wash your suit occasionally using wetsuit shampoo
or Suit Juice.
Wetsuit dry: Use a special wetsuit hanger if you have one; if not,
use a plastic hanger, or a ladies padded hangar. The HangAir Wetsuit Dryer
is a really cool product that dries your suit 70%
faster than hanging alone. Do not hang your wetsuit to dry in the sun, the
neoprene can crack. Let the wetsuit dry thoroughly before storing it to keep
it looking and smelling good.
Damage Inspection: Before you store your wetsuit, check for any rips
or tears. It's easy to get them fixed when they are small. Wetsuit tears
happen after time, especially due to fingernail cuts. This is not a warranty
issue, just nature of the beast. You should repair the suit immediately
using a special Neoprene Adhesive called Aquaseal.
Store properly: Be sure to store your wetsuit properly. Dents and
creases could become permanent and result in loss of insulation. The best
way to store your wetsuit is to lay it flat, or hanging from a wetsuit
hangar. Do not fold your wetsuit or shove it in a drawer. Do not store your
wetsuit in direct sunlight or expose your wetsuit to aerosol spray or car
exhaust. Do not store wetsuit in car trunk.
Zipper Maintenance: Prevent zipper corrosion by rinsing in fresh
water and applying Zip-Tech often.
Wetsuits Stink! One thing you might avoid is peeing in your suit! It's
without a doubt the hardest smell to get rid of... But normal sweat and body
are plenty to make most suits smell, if they're not cared for. If washing
and shampooing the suit does not get rid of the smell, use MIRAZYME, it is
the best product on the market to break down the body oils and wash away the
bacteria that leads to smelliness. The key is to prevent buildup, so don't
just do it once, try to repeat the process every few weeks.
